THINGS TO BE PROUD OF

DESPITE THEIR RECORDS,  DUKE AND UNC ACTUALLY  WILL SHOW UP TO PLAY EACH OTHER IN FOOTBALL THIS YEAR.

DID YOU KNOW?

REMEMBER WHEN THE ENTIRE HIGH TECH WORLD REVOLVED AROUND SILICON VALLEY? ACCORDING TO THE SILICON VALLEY RESEARCH GROUP, OF ALL PEOPLE, THE TOP RESEARCH HUB IN THE COUNTRY IS THE TRIANGLE AREA OF NORTH CAROLINA. SEATTLE WAS SECOND AND SILICON VALLEY FINISHED 12TH.

Sometimes you just have to follow a dream. That is what I have done. After spending the last twelve years at Fonville Morisey, I have resigned, bought a real estate franchise, and am in the midst of opening my own full service real estate office. This is really exciting stuff. My new company is called EXIT REALTY SOUTHPOINT and we are located at 1415  NC 54 West, Suite 104, Durham, NC 27707. For practical purposes we are located a two iron west of the Eckerd’s at the corner of Highway 54 and Hope Valley Road (NC 751). The office complex is called the Hamilton Center and we are in the front building, the one facing Highway 54. I know that I

am practically across the street from my old location but that is because I always thought it was a great area to have a real estate office. One thing that I especially like about our new office is that we have great sign exposure, easy access in and out, and plenty of parking right at the door. Therefore each of you have no excuse not to visit us. We can eventually handle a staff of twenty to thirty agents at this site. I have been busy interviewing some really good agents and already have several commitments.

WHAT ABOUT YOU

What about you, my friends and clients?  Nothing will change as far as my relationship with my clients is concerned. I will continue to work with all of my clients as I have in the past and will always welcome your referrals. Your referral is what has made my business so successful and I will always give the folks that you send me my utmost attention.

By having a full service staff to back me up, we will be able to offer much better coverage and always have someone to help you (even if I sneak off to visit the grandchildren).

WHY EXIT

Why you ask did I chose an Exit Realty franchise? I spent a great deal of time and energy studying the different real estate business models available in the market today. The Exit company stood out because they had the right balance between full service customer care and a great program for the agents. What do you care about how Exit treats the agents? It is important for not only recruiting good agents but retaining them for the long haul. That means long term good care for you the customer.

Exit began in the U S in 1999 and has become the fastest growing real estate franchise in history. There are now over 31,000 Exit agents. When I bought my franchise in October I was the 56th Exit franchise in the two Carolinas. Now there are 60. See what I mean. There are currently five Exit companies in the Wake County side of the Triangle. Since we are the first in the Durham-Chapel Hill market, you are forgiven if you haven’t heard of us yet. That will change very quickly.

WHAT IS IN A NAME

The first thing I asked the Exit folks was why the name “Exit”? They evidently get that question a lot because they not  only were  quick to answer but they even had a power point presentation on the subject. It seems there are two things that you want to accomplish when trying to gain name regonition. One is to have an name that everyone can remember. The other goal is   somehow create a subliminal effect for remembering that product name. As it turns out, the word exit is the most advertised word in the world. In all public buildings it is even required to be illuminated. Exit means safe passage, especially for those wanting to sell their house and move on.

This coming April, Exit Realty International is going to institute a nationwide billboard campaign so you will see a lot about real estate and the word exit. After that, it is simple, every time  you see an exit sign on the highway or in your favorite store, you will think of real estate---and hopefully Exit Realty Southpoint.

I especially like the fact that a lot of other people are paying for all of those exit signs---your highway tax dollars at work. We will spend our advertising dollars on trying to get your house sold.

WHERE THE SUN IS SHINING

Bizjournals has done a fascinating study of Sunbelt cities to determine what they think are the top ten places to live and work while getting that tan. They define the Sunbelt as everything south of the 37th parallel which runs from about ten miles north of Virginia Beach to about 30 miles south of San Jose. Using metropolitan areas with population in excess of 250,000,  Huntsville, Alabama ranked number one by combining sunshine,  an educated population, high per capita income, and a strong job market.

Coming in at number three was Raleigh. One of the most impressive things about the Raleigh resume’ was that 38 % of the adults hold a college degree. This per- centage was topped by only one other city on the list…Durham! Durham ranked number eight overall and had 39% of its adults holding a college degree. One of the factors they use is traffic congestion. This study fortunately was done before the I-40 redo during the State-UNC football game.

Fayetteville, Arkansas was ranked fourth due to being a major university town and the home of the world’s largest retailer---Wall-Mart. Phoenix was the only western city to make the list. The others were all from what us natives like to refer to as “the real South”. Congratulations to all of us here in the Triangle.
